Turn of events
A leaf grows, twists, turns and then dries up naturally. So, does the lives of a transgender and a drag king/queen. The leaves are painted upon with inspiration from my favourite drag queens from the show “RuPauls’s Drag Race” and also a painting of two transgender drag kings that I personally met. Drags are personally connected to me since I believe in not defining and bounding myself to a single character and to keep on exploring my options, just as the celebrity drag queen RuPaul quoted “We are shape shifters”. I used leaves as a metaphor to describe how the journey of the lives of drags and transgender are not in their control, but are natural, just like the process of a leaf shaping and drying up. I made two hands of both genders holding a flask, which is scientifically used to combine things into one, resulting in a unique combination of the two genders. To present the delicacy of their lives in contrast to the red background (society), I painted a white cloth with smooth strokes.
