Sealing Affections
As stated before in one of my artworks, buttons act as a symbol of tying things together. This time I portrayed the buttons as a metaphor for partners coming together and sealing their affections. I represent a shirt on canvas with a 3D collar with two different coloured sides, symbolising people of two very different personalities. Over the shirt I drew an observational sketch of human figures in different postures in daily life. The buttons “tie up” the shirt to make the two very different people a single unit. The colours of the two people drip across the shirt, that is the canvas, to spread out their personas and share it with their significant other. I used shades of ochre to give spotlight to the artwork.
