We all have different forms of ourselves, most of which aren't known to all. This portrait is a reflection of one's true self, modified with the illusion of the various personas that people hide internally. Through this artwork, I implement the theme of self-reflection.
 
The key feature of this artwork lies in its illusionistic features. I  created an illusionistic effect, firstly, by outlining the same face multiple times hazily to create a sense of movement in the facial features. Secondly, by using color pencils to exaggerate the skin texture with rough strokes. Lastly, to emphasize the face, by painting the background black with wood-like strokes of ochre and burnt umber for depth.
 
When I look at this piece, it reminds me of the exposures I gained in portraiture during my journey through the streets of my city. I went in search of a face that makes one feel the same way I felt for my illusionistic personality.
